Fernández celebrates first sprint victory, Aprilia breaks speed record

Raúl Fernández reached a personal milestone in the sprint at Mugello. The Aprilia Trackhouse pilot defeated his Spanish compatriot Jorge Martín in a direct battle and secured his first sprint victory in MotoGP. For Fernández, the success comes at an important time – the 25-year-old is currently fighting to secure his future in the premier class.

Aprilia dominates in Mugello

Aprilia's dominance was not limited to the sprint. Jorge Martín set a new MotoGP speed record during free practice on Saturday morning when he drove through the Mugello straight at 369 kilometres per hour. With this, the Italian brand took over the record from KTM, which had held the mark for a year.

On the sprint distance podium, Enea Bastianini completed the Aprilia one-two, while Martín secured second place and Fabio Di Giannantonio third. Marc Márquez, nine-time world champion on Ducati, finished only in fifth place – an indication of the superior pace of the Aprilia machines this weekend.

Spanish success also in Moto3

Spanish performance also prevailed in Moto3: 17-year-old Brian Uriarte (KTM) won the race in Mugello with a brilliant strategy in the final lap. The Cantabrian showed mature riding and secured an important victory in his career.
