Two climbers fatally injured in Italian Alps

In the Italian Alps, a series of mountain rescue accidents occurred on Saturday. Two climbers died in serious mountain accidents, as local authorities confirmed.

The first accident occurred in the Dolomites in Trentino. A 32-year-old climber fell on the Via Livanos in Val di Fassa. The man fell approximately 30 metres, tumbled and struck rocks. The climber was working as a lead climber when the fall occurred. A rescue helicopter was immediately requested, but could only confirm the man's death.

Second accident at Gran Paradiso

On the same day, another fatal accident occurred on the north slope of Gran Paradiso in the Aosta Valley. A hiker died in the incident. The exact circumstances of this accident were initially unclear.

Mountain rescue accidents in the Italian Alps are not uncommon, particularly in the summer months when many climbers and hikers flock to the mountains. The Dolomites and Gran Paradiso are among the region's most popular climbing areas. Experts regularly warn of the risks associated with inadequate equipment, lack of experience, or bad weather.

Italian mountain rescue services have increased their operations in the region. Both accidents are currently being investigated by the responsible authorities.
