Frederiksen forms four-party coalition and remains Danish Prime Minister

Mette Frederiksen has announced the formation of a new government in Denmark after lengthy coalition negotiations. The Social Democrat will enter her third term with a centre-left alliance, as Spiegel reports. The negotiations dragged on for just over two months after the parliamentary election in March had not produced a clear winner.

Four-party coalition reaches agreement

The new coalition consists of four parties. Frederiksen announced the successful agreement after intensive talks that were considered particularly difficult. Government formation was considered complicated after the election because there was no clear election winner.

For Frederiksen, this is already her third term as Prime Minister. She thus leads a centre-left minority coalition. Coalition negotiations in Denmark are thus concluded after several months, as Zeit Online reports.
