Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang unveiled a new processor at Computex in Taipei that is designed to bring AI capabilities directly to laptops and PCs. With this move, the chip company is entering the mass market for Windows devices for the first time and directly challenging Intel and AMD.
Nvidia has launched a new offensive in the PC market. The chip company presented the RTX Spark at Computex in Taipei, a processor specifically designed for Microsoft Windows notebooks and desktop computers. Nvidia CEO Huang announced a "reinvention of the computer" and positioned AI as a "profit generator" for the industry.
The RTX Spark is designed to run AI agents directly on the device, potentially making the mouse and keyboard obsolete. The company promises that the chip will fundamentally change Windows laptops. With this, Nvidia is competing directly with Intel and AMD for the first time in a mass market segment that has been dominated by these two manufacturers.
The announcement underscores Nvidia's aggressive expansion strategy. The company has placed a $150 billion bet on AI chips, which is now being extended to consumer devices as well. At the same time, Nvidia must also face new regulatory hurdles: Nvidia and AMD are confronted with new export restrictions for their China subsidiaries.
The announcement is being well received by the market. Nvidia delivered another "beat" in quarterly earnings while a new AI trend is gaining momentum. The chip company's market position remains unsolicited strong, even as geopolitical tensions around China business are increasing.
The RTX Spark notebooks are expected to launch in 2026 and establish a new category of AI-capable Windows PCs.
