841 passengers spent night in blocked Trenitalia trains

Approximately 841 passengers were stuck in two Trenitalia trains that came to a halt between the Yonne and Côte-d'Or on the route to Paris during the night from Friday to Saturday. Le Monde reports that the trains remained blocked throughout the night before they could resume service Saturday morning.

The situation was distressing for passengers: Sud Ouest documents that passengers reported on social media about missing air conditioning and water shortage – particularly critical given the prevailing heat. One passenger described the situation drastically: "It became a sauna." Le Parisien confirms that technical problems on the French rail network led to the standstill.

Emergency supply and power outage

The Italian railway company Trenitalia operates these connections on behalf of the French state railway SNCF. The incident raises questions about emergency supply and communication during extended train failures – particularly regarding the provision of water and functioning air conditioning in extreme weather situations.
