Parcoursup 2026: First admissions from Tuesday, new teacher training in high demand

The French higher education admission system Parcoursup enters its decisive phase starting Tuesday, June 2. Le Figaro reports that the first acceptance letters arrive at 7 p.m. Candidates will then have clarity about their chances for their submitted preferred study places.

Multi-phase procedure with waiting periods

The main admission phase does not proceed linearly. La Croix explains that students can reorder their preferences while waiting for responses. At the same time, the platform pauses during the written baccalauréat exams – a regulation that gives students time for their exams. This is followed by the supplementary phase, in which candidates without an offer can access places that have become available at short notice.

Particularly sought-after this year is the newly created Licence Professorat des Écoles, which leads directly to primary school teacher training. Le Parisien reports that this degree is already in massive demand and ranks among the most chosen programs. The new program replaces earlier detours through separate teacher training institutes and centralizes preparation for the teaching profession.

Strategic planning across multiple phases

Candidates should prepare for multiple decision phases: after the first responses come waitlist updates, then the exam pause, and finally the chance for places from candidates who decline. Those without an offer by then can still respond in the supplementary phase. The exact deadlines and transitions between phases are central to planning.
