Rheinmetall secures €5.7 billion contract from Romania

Rheinmetall has signed a contract worth €5.7 billion with Romania. The order includes vehicles, ammunition, ships and air defence systems for the Romanian armed forces. The company plans to establish a large portion of production directly in Romania – a strategic move intended to strengthen the defence industry in Eastern Europe.

The contract shows how much Rheinmetall is currently benefiting from the geopolitical situation. The weapons manufacturer has evolved from a long-controversial "pariah" of German industry into a champion of the defence sector.
