Two-year-old dies in Bordighera — investigators find abuse videos

The investigation into the death of two-year-old Beatrice in Bordighera (Province of Imperia) reveals an extent of violence that has shaken authorities. The prosecutor reports "incredible images of abuse" on the father's phone, including photos of the child with a swollen face after alleged beatings and a video in which the child is forced to smoke a cigarette while adults laugh and the girl breaks down in tears.

The victim's sister, nine years old, has provided investigators with crucial testimony. She described her sister's final hours as "agony": the child had turned blue, her head had fallen forward. "The more they held her up, the more her head fell forward. Her whole body was purple, her lips were purple," the nine-year-old said. She and her siblings called for help, but none of the adults responded.

Arrest of the partner

Manuel Iannuzzi, 42 years old, the mother's partner, has been arrested. The mother herself is also under investigation. The statement from the older sister was apparently the turning point in the case – she provided authorities with concrete details about the neglect and failure to seek medical help despite the child being in critical condition.
